CDMA users number 57M

COSTA MESA, Calif.-Twice as many wireless customers subscribe to Code Division Multiple Access technology today than one year ago, according to a report by the CDMA Development Group.

The Group said CDMA now reaches more than 57 million users worldwide, and it expects the continued demand for wireless Internet and information services will further increase CDMA’s global presence in the near term.

“CDMA technology’s growth is really just now starting to begin,” stated Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG.

The CDG noted that CDMA subscribers in the Asia-Pacific region numbered more than 32 million subscribers, followed by North America with 19 million subscribers and Latin America with 6.5 million subscribers.
