LONDON-Almost half of cellular phone users in Western Europe expect to use their mobile phones for all voice traffic in the future, with only one-third convinced they will still use a fixed telephone, according to a study published by Strategy Analytics.
The study, “Wireless 2000: European End-User Market Dynamics,” goes on to say that price levels remain the most common complaint among users in the region, with 50 percent of churn motivated by cost.
“There remains a strong willingness among European cellular users to churn to operators offering the best pricing model for them,” said Phil Kendall, service director for Strategy Analytics. “If operators don’t get their landline substitution pricing correct, they may find they are left with the third of users who have no intention of relying on their mobile phones for all voice calls, while the high-use, high-spending users take their business elsewhere.”
