BOSTON-Fractal Antenna Systems Inc. reported it has perfected versions of its ComCyl antenna line, which prevents direct contact of the antenna with the user, keeping users’ heads an extra margin of distance away from the antenna’s current.
Fractal said that by taking the short, plastic-coated tube of stubby antennas and replacing the inside spring, wire or ceramic with a flexible fractal antenna circuit board, the same form factor houses a unique, high-performance solution to the antenna problem that can be set up for multiband use.
The approach leaves one side of the stubby antenna empty, so even with the user pressing the antenna to the head, there is no near or direct contact because of the extra separation. The company noted the empty side can also be filled with absorbing plastics to further diminish RF emission on the head.
