SAN FRANCISCO-Motorola Inc. said it intends to use PacketVideo Corp.’s MPEG-4 wireless multimedia solution on a future generation of multiple communication phones for integrated Digital Enhanced Network wireless networks.
PacketVideo’s MPEG-4 compliant software-based encoding and decoding products will allow the delivery of a variety of content and media applications to mobile devices, according to Motorola.
“PacketVideo technology is indicative of the future of wireless, and is precisely the type of application we envisioned for multiple communications handsets,” said Bill Werner, corporate vice president of Motorola and general manager of the iDEN Subscriber Group. “Our collaboration with PacketVideo represents Motorola’s focus on next-generation wireless applications that will enrich the experience of the user.”
PacketVideo and Motorola said they will also work on Java-based applications and implementations to enhance the adaptability of the iDEN handsets’ capabilities.
