AUSTIN, Texas-When MarketScape Inc. changed its name to Mobilize Inc. in April, it involved more than ordering new business cards for the company. It was a chance for the company to reaffirm itself as a different kind of mobile business solution provider.
“Right now, the industry is focused on wireless, devices and infrastructure,” said Bob Pinna, chief executive officer of Mobilize. “We believe that’s dead wrong. Our focus is on mobility, people and applications.”
To achieve its goals, Mobilize has developed its Mobile Access Portal to address the issues of providing mobile workers access to the same corporate resources available while in the office.
“Our business customers are asking for mobility-enabled applications that can be accessed by field personnel from multiple devices using a combination of cellular wireless, wireless [local area network] and synchronization technologies,” Pinna noted. “And our technical customers want fast, pain-free application and data integration. The MAP platform meets both needs.”
Consisting of data integration, content management, updating and other subsystems, along with self-contained productivity applications called mapplets, MAP overcomes the mobility gap with a two-way flow of information between mobile users, the corporation and its customers, said Mobilize.
The company’s latest offering using its MAP application, Online Meeting Manager, is Mobilize’s latest attempt to combine its “people-first” mantra with mobility access.
Through a partnership with Web conferencing provider PlaceWare Inc., OMM is designed to deliver an online meeting solution for mobile workers regardless of location using a Web browser and a phone.
The service allows live, interactive meetings and presentations via the Internet enabling all those involved to view and work with the same real-time information.
“Our collaboration with PlaceWare lets mobile professionals conduct meetings across any geographic boundary in order to dramatically increase the speed of doing business,” Pinna added.
