TORONTO-Canadian Global System for Mobile communications operator Microcell Connexions Inc. turned on its personal communications services network between Montreal and Quebec City, expanding its coverage along highway 20 in Canada.
“The first phase of our network deployment, started in 1997 and completed last year, rapidly established a coverage area in which more than 53 percent of the Canadian population resides,” said Rajiv Pancholy, president and chief operating officer of Microcell. “That work encompassed major metropolitan areas across Canada, where the majority of wireless activity takes place. Now, our network planning teams have turned their attention to additional communities, as well as highways, weekend destinations and in-building coverage.”
