DALLAS-WebLink Wireless Inc. announced it has begun shipping the Talkabout T900 two-way pager from Motorola Inc. this week. The company plans to ship more than 60,000 units to more than 6,000 retailers nationwide by the end of August.
Arch Communication Group Inc. also said it plans to begin shipping the device in the next two weeks.
WebLink said it will sell the pagers for $100, following an $80 introductory equipment rebate with a one-year service contract. Monthly service for nationwide two-way coverage will range from $15 a month for 250 messages to $20 a month for 2,000 messages, 1,000 on weekdays and 1,000 on weekends.
While both WebLink and Arch have had two-way paging service active on their own ReFLEX 25 networks for some months, both are centering their distribution strategies on the new T900.
