ARLINGTON, Va.-The Industrial Telecommunications Association has signed an agreement with the American Petroleum Institute to notify petroleum and pipeline licensees of potential interference caused when ITA coordinates shared frequencies in the bands below 800 MHz.
“ITA has an obligation under its agreement with API’s Petroleum Frequency Coordinating Committee to protect to the extent possible the operational integrity of critical petroleum radio systems. This new advisory service is a logical extension of that commitment in the post radio service consolidation environment,” said ITA President Mark E. Crosby, noting that API has contracted with ITA to perform frequency coordination and associated spectrum management functions.
After the petroleum or pipeline licensee receives notification from ITA, it may choose to ask ITA to negotiate a solution, address the matter independently or do nothing.
