Pegaso picks Ericsson to expand CDMA network

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson won a $200 million contract from Pegaso for Code Division Multiple Access equipment and services to expand Pegaso’s personal communications services network in Mexico.

The contract includes Ericsson’s 1106 and 1107 Compact Radio Base Stations, CMS 11 AXE switches, JAMBALA-based HLR, a billing mediation platform, network management products and a full portfolio of services.

Ericsson said deployment will begin immediately, with plans for initial commercial operations in regions outside of Mexico City, Tijuana, Monterrey and Guadalajara scheduled for December.
