REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.-OracleMobile Inc. said Arch Communications Group Inc. and Motient Corp. have adopted its two-way wireless messaging solution, joining Metrocall Inc. and Research In Motion Ltd.
Middleware provider Paradigm4 also adopted the solution for its platform. Using Paradigm4’s devices, subscribers will be able to access information directly from the Web via OracleMobile’s mobile portal.
The Ask@OracleMobile service is a free information-on-demand service for interactive messaging devices without Internet browsers, allowing users to request information and receive responses from OracleMobile’s Web-based content providers.
OracleMobile also added new content channels to the service. Users may now query eBay, news from ScreamingMedia.com, movie listings from Hollywood.com, package tracking from UPS and a wireless “psychic 8-ball” function. Original content includes stock quotes, traffic and flight information, driving directions, horoscopes, lottery results, a dictionary and weather services.
Arch, Motient and Paradigm4 will work with OracleMobile to promote the service as well, according to the agreement.
