New broadband wireless processor company nBand Communications Inc. said it raised $14 million in a second round of venture financing led by VantagePoint Venture Partners. Other investors included Axis Communications, Sunrise Capital Fund and various private investors.

Wireless application service provider 2Roam Inc. formed a partnership to extend its wireless enablement solution to Mobilocity Inc.’s m-business customers. As part of the partnership, 2Roam joined Mobilocity’s Mobility Lab.

Nokia Corp. reported a total of 525,904 of its shares were subscribed for after the increase in the share capital registered July 28. The $28,488 increase in the share capital was registered in the Finnish Trade Register on Aug. 25. As a result of the increase, Nokia’s current share capital is $253.7 million, with a total of 4.6 billion shares.

U.S. Wireless Corp. will receive $5.2 million over the next six years to deploy its RadioCamera wireless location network in the greater San Francisco area, providing live traffic and congestion information for motorists, as part of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s $38 million TravInfo program. The network will provide traffic flow information for the program as part of a team led by transportation consultant PB Farradyne, and a division of Parsons Brinckerhoff Quade & Douglas Inc.

AT&T Wireless Services Inc. placed an upgrade and expansion order with SignalSoft Corp. for products to assist in meeting the Federal Communications Commission’s Phase II 911 requirements. The deal calls for SignalSoft to supply AT&T with enhancements to its Wireless 911 product, originally licensed by AT&T in 1997 to assist in meeting the FCC’s Phase I 911 mandate. SignalSoft said AT&T is now licensing its Location Manager as its gateway to location determination technologies designed to locate phones within the 100 meter location accuracy range as defined by the Phase II mandate.
