HELSINKI, Finland-First Hop Ltd. has introduced a system designed to give mobile phone customers the ability to pay for movie tickets and other passes via what it called digital tokens, billed to the uses’ wireless account.
Escio Tokens is meant to replace physical movie tickets, discount coupons and entrance passes based on a form of digital tickets, which would authorize the user to access select services. Escio Tokens enables the mobile devices to receive and store these access rights.
The price for the selected events would be charged to the user’s phone bill. Further applications include Web site access control, customer loyalty programs and mobile advertising, the company said.
Other uses are expected as Bluetooth and wireless LAN technologies develop.
