Mobilestop to announce partnership with Ericsson

CHICAGO-Mobilestop Inc. is expected today to announce a partnership with L.M. Ericsson where the Swedish phone maker will install Mobilestop’s products in its phones.

The agreement calls for the Mobilestop-enabled phones to be available in Brazil in the fourth quarter then moving onto phones for Argentina, Chile and Mexico.

Additionally, Mobilestop representatives said they have closed a partnership with Intershop, which Mobilestop said was a leader in the e-commerce original equipment management space.

The agreement with Intershop allows Mobilestop to use Intershop’s software as part of the Mobilestop platform.

Last week’s GlobalXchange conference sponsored by the Personal Communications Industry Association was a coming out party for Mobilestop’s new president and chief executive officer Hakan BCM Wretsell.

Wretsell formerly worked with Ericsson’s All Americas handset division. Noting the Ericsson announcement, he said Ericsson had already begun examining Mobilestop as a potential partner before he decided to join Mobilestop.

The former CEO of the Miami-based Mobilestop, Arnthor Halldorsson, has moved over to work on development.

One of the attractive features of the Mobilestop product is that it works with several different languages, several different currencies and several different technologies, said Wretsell, noting Mobilestop’s philosophy of “developing a local product on a global basis.

Mobilestop was spun off of Strax Inc., a Miami-based wireless phone and accessory distributor.
