NEW YORK-Verizon Wireless and Allen Telecom Inc. said they successfully completed a large-scale CDMA field trial of Allen Telecom’s Geometrix E911 Wireless Location Solution in Kentucky, verifying the Geometrix system meets the Federal Communications Commission’s Phase II requirements for E911 location accuracy.
Geometrix location system equipment was installed in Verizon Wireless base stations to cover an area more than 1,000 square kilometers in and around Lexington, Ky. The trial tests included urban, suburban and rural environments, and all calls were made from commercially available handsets, the companies said.
