SANTIAGO, Chile-Chilean regulator Subtel said it reserved the 1710 MHz to 1850 MHz and 2110 MHz to 2170 MHz frequency bands for third-generation (3G) services. The spectrum is divided into eight blocks, and up to four operators will be able to offer 3G services in each geographic area under nationwide concessions.
The regulator did not prohibit deploying 3G services in the 1850 MHz to 1900 MHz band currently in use by the country’s personal communications services (PCS) carriers.
