Powell to deliver PFF address

WASHINGTON-Federal Communications Commissioner Michael Powell is scheduled to deliver the keynote address to the Progress and Freedom Foundation’s national conference on telecommunications deregulation and FCC reform on Dec. 8. Other speakers include former commission chairman Richard Wiley and economist Alfred Kahn.

“Commissioner Powell is an excellent person to deliver the keynote address at our FCC reform conference,” said Jeffrey Eisenach, president of PFF. “He has been a measured, yet highly effective, internal critic for some of the prevailing thinking at the FCC. He understands that regulation-not regulatory micro-management-produces competition and gains for consumer.”

The conference is timed to provide a new Congress and administration with recommendations for the next round of telecommunications reform, and will feature a release of a new book highlighting specific areas of concern to policy makers.
