American Tower revenues at $209 M

BOSTON-American Tower Corp. reported revenues for the third quarter ended Sept. 30 of $209 million, significantly more than the $67.5 million reported in revenues for third-quarter 1999.

The company recorded a net loss of $39.5 million, or 22 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $13 million, or 8 cents per share, for the same period the previous year.

“We believe we are achieving long-term competitive advantages through managing down the average cost of our towers, the operating costs of our towers and our cost of capital,” said Steve Dodge, American Tower’s chairman and chief executive officer.

In the fourth quarter, the company said it expects its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization to be between $67 million and $76 million.
