UTRECHT, The Netherlands-A television program in Germany used short message service (SMS) to allow viewers to interact with the contestants.
Viewers sent answers to questions via SMS messages using mobile phones. CMG Telecommunications collected and analyzed the messages. Correct answers were forwarded for the final selection of prize winners.
Contestants who sent incorrect answers received SMS message informing them whether their answers were too high or too low and allowing them to continue playing the game. Answers could be sent for 20 minutes, and CMG handled about 1.2 million messages.
German mobile carriers Viag, T-Mobil and Mannesmann participated in the show.
