IRVINE, Calif.-STM Wireless Inc. announced it was awarded a patent for its special form of CDMA called Cyclic Code Phase Multiple Access.
The technology provides the benefits of CDMA but is designed for a low to moderate throughput in the upstream channel and is applicable to Ka-band small office/home office and consumer VSAT applications. CPMA also is complementary to STM’s line of TDMA VSATs, the company said.
“Our vision of future broadband VSATs involves a 12- to 18-inch Ka-band terminal that can be deployed in a mass consumer market for use with spot beam satellites that are scheduled to go into operation over the next two to three years,” said Emil Youssefzadeh, STM’s chief executive officer.
