SINGAPORE-The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore released a report showing newcomer StarHub has the poorest GSM cellular service. It had the highest incidence of dropped calls and fared poorly in getting calls through in the first place.
SingTel Mobile had the lowest incidence of dropped calls, while MobileOne (M1) was tops in voice quality. SingTel Mobile’s GSM 900 service had the poorest voice quality. M1 generally did well in most areas except its CDMA service, which was found to have the worst service coverage at street level.
IDA performed the tests between 1 July and 30 September.
StarHub offered no excuses, save to say it would invest US$58.8 to improve its mobile service.
