Brazil has 20.9 million cellular lines

SAO PAULO, Brazil-Director of Anatel Ant”nio Carlos Valente da Silva said Nov. 16 that Brazil already has 20.9 million activated cellular lines. Valente also said mobile telephony has a penetration rate of 13 phones for each 100 inhabitants.

The government expects the operators to close the year with 22 million activated lines. “That shows the significant progress of that service,” explained Valente, during a lecture to the employees of the agency.

The director of telecom regulator Anatel also commemorated Brazil’s 34.6 million fixed lines in service reached in September.
