JOHANNESBURG, South Africa-Ericsson South Africa is the founding sponsor of the MTN ScienCenter, which recently opened at Cape Town’s new Canal Walk development. The center is an interactive venture aimed at introducing young South Africans, particularly those from disadvantaged communities, to sciences and technology in a way that stimulates their curiosity.
Ericsson has invested about 600,000 rand (US$78,000) in the project including 100,000 rand (US$13,000) for a 1.6-meter tall operational mobile phone.
The center features more than 200 interactive displays purchased from science centers around the world.
