Psion to use ReturnsPort.com for inventory management

Psion USA, a manufacturer of personal productivity handheld computers, has agreed to use ReturnsPort.com’s full suite of services to track and manage the comings and goings of its inventory in the United States.

This enables Psion USA to access ReturnsPort.com’s slew of Internet-based returns processing services and reporting capabilities through an Internet Gateway including wireless applications.

“We designed the Returns-Port.com system to be completely flexible and scalable to match virtually every returns volume and any type of product,” said Walter A. Giera, president of Returns-Port.com. “Our RPS (Returns Processing System) database gives customers incredible control over the returns process while making it easier and far more accurate than ever.”

The company believes that its system can help any customer keep tabs on all types of inventory including serial number, product number and shipper ID. The RPS is designed for only serialized products like wireless phones, PDAs and the Psion handheld devices.

Giera said the RPS is efficient as a customer and asset-focused service and tailored to cater to Psion’s dealers’ and distributors’ needs via easy-to-use interface and high-speed reporting.

“This means customers get the ability to track returns and get reports showing certified receipts within 24 hours after hitting our dock,” said Giera.

Giera explains that the system responds to products’ short life cycles and value with the speed of its services and accountability.

The RPS seeks to manage the front-end of the returns process, does not repair products nor offer customer credit but enables sales departments to release credits according to their established policies.

“We are pleased with the rapid response and system capabilities offered by ReturnsPort.com,” said Maureen Mauti, spokeswoman for Psion USA, a division of U.K.-based Psion plc which makes handheld computers throughout the world and offers models that feature WAP capability and infrared connectivity features.

Mauti said Psion will offer the RPS to its distributors and resellers throughout the United States in the coming months.
