AvantGo Inc., a wireless Internet provider, unleashed a barrage of new initiatives last week, beginning with the creation of two professional services programs designed to support businesses deploying its AvantGo Enterprise software and services.
The two are called Mobile Expert and Jump Start. Mobile Experts work with enterprise customers to assess their needs and develop and deploy a mobile solution to meet those needs, using AvantGo technology. The Jump Start service is designed to quickly get customers to market, five days to be exact. The on-site service includes installation and configuration, customized documentation and training for IT staff.
Following up on October’s announced seminar series, the company also launched its AvantGo Educational Services-offering a variety of educational classes to meet mobile user needs. It includes classroom training, on-site course instruction and a mobile classroom, all for employees of AvantGo Enterprise customers.
The custom on-site training, known as Boot Camp, offers course work to match the specific requirements of each project and customer. Instructor-led training solutions are designed to assist with the development and deployment of mobile applications, while the mobile classroom is designed to work in conjunction with the custom on-site training.
AvantGo then announced it has extended its AvantGo Enterprise solution to mobilize the Microsoft Exchange platform. It also introduced AvantGo Enterprise Interactive version 3.6, combining interactive access to both Web-based applications and messaging solutions for enterprise extension services. The solution focuses on a centralized administration of mobile devices, rather than synchronization.
Looking overseas, AvantGo unveiled a country-specific Web site for Europe, starting with the United Kingdom. The company listed 100 U.K.-based Web sites newly available on the AvantGo service. Also launched were sites in Sweden and Norway, with France and Germany expected early next year.
Finally, the company introduced a new content channel with Wine.com, allowing users to browse the wine.com Web site and initiate transactions.
