HELSINKI-Nokia Corp. will ship with its suite of mobile developer tools the Lutris Enhydra 3.5 Java/XML Open Source application server, including the Nokia WAP phone emulator, WAP gateway and WAP toolkit, Nokia and Lutris Technologies Inc. announc-ed.
Developers will have complete access to Nokia WAP gateway functionality, which allows them to check compiled size of decks and debug wireless markup language source by means of a WML 1.1 parser and visual error feedback, Lutris said.
“Our agreement with Nokia makes possible a combined technology offering that creates a multichannel platform to enable mobile transactions. The result is direct access from WAP handsets, via the Lutris Enhydra 3.5 application server, to back-end systems,” said Yancy Lind, president and chief executive officer of Lutris.
Lutris also announced a licensing agreement with Pixo Inc. under which Lutris will embed Pixo’s microbrowser in Enhydra 3.5. Developers will be able to build and deploy applications for compact HTML devices, such as i-mode phones used by NTT DoCoMo. Lutris said Enhydra 3.5 is the only application server with native support for cHTML.
These agreements come on the heels of Lutris’ partnership announcement with Motorola Inc. That agreement calls for the Java 2 Micro Edition emulator to be embedded with Lutris Enhydra 3.5 for the development of applications for Motorola’s iDEN phones.
Lutris Enhydra 3.5 now is available directly through the company’s Web site for $695.
