Alamosa PCS exceeds expectations

LUBBOCK, Texas-Wireless operator Alamosa PCS Holdings Inc., a Sprint PCS affiliate, reported a greater-than-expected year-end subscriber base of 166,127 customers on combined net additions of 58,121 subscribers.

For the fourth quarter, Alamosa added 41,497 net subscribers and reported a churn rate of 2.9 percent, a decrease from the third-quarter rate of 3.4 percent.

Alamosa said it expects first- quarter 2001 net subscriber additions of between 27,000 and 37,000 customers. For the full year, Alamosa said its expects to add about 200,000 net subscribers, with average revenue per user trending down slightly as its markets mature. Churn is expected to remain in the 2.5-percent to 3-percent range for 2001.
