TOKYO-The value of wireless Internet transactions in Japan will grow from $336 million in 2000 to more than $5 billion in 2005, according to a report from Japanese research firm Jupiter Media Metrix K.K.
“Japanese consumers are more willing to pay for mobile content because the settlement system is smoother and more established than in the United States,” Fumitaka Okumura, senior analyst at Jupiter, told Reuters.
The report noted that the worldwide market for Internet services will jump from $371 million last year to $20.6 billion in 2005, with the U.S. market expanding from $8.6 million in 2000 to $3.2 billion by 2005.
