WebLink, Glenayre make e-mail changes

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-WebLink Wireless Inc. and Glenayre Technologies Inc. both announced improvements to their e-mail offerings, adding e-mail heavyweights America Online Inc. and GroupServe.

WebLink added AOL’s e-mail program to the growing number of programs the company’s Remote Email Manager can support.

WebLink’s customers will now be able to send, receive, reply to and forward AOL e-mails using a two-way device. The service already covers various Internet-based e-mail providers like Yahoo!, as well as 8,000 Internet service providers, including AT&T@Home, Earthlink and Worldnet.

“Now, with the addition of AOL, one of the most popular suppliers of personal e-mail addresses, our Remote Email Manager is available for the millions of AOL customers,” said Topper Pardoe, WebLink’s vice president for marketing.

Glenayre’s agreement with GroupServe will create interoperability between GroupServe’s groupware e-mail program, GroupPort, and Glenayre’s @ctiveLink two-way wireless messaging module.

Jim Kelly, Glenayre’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer, said the deal will allow group users to communicate and collaborate through the @ctiveLink module.
