WASHINGTON-President Bush last week nominated Charles James to head the Justice Department’s antitrust division, a key position as consolidation in the telecommunications and high-tech sectors continues.
James is currently a partner with the law firm of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue. Before that, James served in the antitrust division of the Justice Department as deputy assistant attorney general and acting assistant attorney general from 1991 to 1993. He spent six years in a variety of positions at the Federal Trade Commission from 1979 to 1985. A native of Union, N.J., James is a graduate of Wesleyan University in Connecticut and received his law degree from George Washington University.
