BUCHAREST, Romania-Schlumberger Test & Transactions announced this week Slovakia’s leading mobile operator EuroTel Bratislava has chosen Schlumberger as its partner in delivering a new, highly secure mobile banking service to multiple banks, based on Schlumberger Simera Java subscriber identity modules.
Using this new, menu-driven service, customers of three of Slovakia’s leading banks-VUB, Tatrabanka, and Istrobanka-can review their accounts, make payments and access stock market information, for example, wherever and whenever they wish, in complete security over Phase 2+ phones.
Unlike the providers of most m-banking applications, which are based on a one-operator/one-bank partnership, EuroTel Bratislava is offering an m-banking service to multiple banks, which greatly expands its scope for revenue generation and stakes out its territory as the m-banking leader in Eastern Europe.
“This is a major strategic move for us and for our banking partners, and we need a technically excellent product plus applications development expertise,” said Jozef Barta, EuroTel Bratislava’s chief executive officer.
Subscribers can access services using a clear menu display on their mobile handsets. All transactions are authorized using an applet-specific personal identification number, which users can change as required, giving them confidence in the security of their mobile transactions.
