HONG KONG-Agere Systems, formerly the Microelectronics Group of Lucent Technologies Inc., established new regional headquarters in Hong Kong to support operations in the Asia-Pacific region.
According to the company, Agere relocated its Asia-Pacific regional headquarters to Hong Kong from Tokyo so it could enhance services to customers at a local level across the region from the geographical heart of Asia. In addition to Hong Kong, the company has regional offices in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, India, Thailand and mainland China.
Agere Systems also announced Dr. Dennis Packard will head up the Asia-Pacific office as vice president of sales and marketing. Packard will oversee sales, applications engineering and marketing. As the most senior regional executive for Agere, he will also be responsible for the company’s overall operations in Asia-Pacific.
“The establishment of the new regional headquarters and the appointment of Dr. Dennis Packard for the Asia-Pacific region mean that we have the products, people and infrastructure on the ground to provide a center of expertise for customers throughout the region,” said Ahmed Nawaz, executive vice president of sales for Agere. “We believe this will be fundamental to the continuing support of our customers in Asia-Pacific.”
