Qualcomm launches security solution

SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc., announced SECOM Co. Ltd., a Japanese provider of security services, will launch COCO SECOM, a safety service for locating the position of people and vehicles, which represents the first commercial deployment of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies’ MSM3300 Mobile Station Modem integrated circuit and system software solution.

To provide affordable personal and vehicle safety, the system also incorporates gpsOne position location technology, SECOM’s extensive security service network and geographic positioning. CoCo SECOM services, which are available 24 hours per day, seven days per week, locates the position of persons or vehicles in need of assistance and then informs and dispatches emergency personnel to provide assistance.

“gpsOne enables us to provide our customers with personal security services in environments where these services were previously unavailable,” said Toshitaka Sugimachi, president of SECOM. “By using gpsOne’s affordable, all-terrain position-to-location capability, we enhance our customers’ ability to care for and protect their loved ones.”
