Dolphin to cut work force

BASINGSTOKE, United Kingdom-Dolphin Telecom plc reported plans to reduce costs and concentrate its efforts and financial resources on its U.K. and French operations. The plans will reduce the Dolphins work force by 600 positions, split equally between employees and contractors, and will primarily affect its German operations.

“I am disappointed that we have had to make these reductions in our work force, but the deterioration in the telecommunications markets and the difficulty of securing additional funding makes this unavoidable,” said Steven Evans, president and chief executive officer of Dolphin.

Dolphin said it plans to aggressively market its TETRA digital services and remains confident of achieving 100,000 digital customer additions in the United Kingdom this year.
