HELSINKI, Finland- Nokia Corp. said that the decision in a March meeting of the Third-Generation Partnership Project to establish future compatibility between versions of the wideband CDMA standards shows that W-CDMA technology has reached the maturity level required for commercial operation.
Pertti Lukander, director of standards strategy and regulation for Nokia Networks, explained, “The phased approach, which allows operators to pilot with the December 2000 version this year, while concurrently developing the commercial version to be launched next year, enables the timely introduction of the W-CDMA products and services.”
In other news, Nokia Internet Communications announced its worldwide Channel Accreditation Program for select value-added resellers and service providers. The program offers three tiers of accreditation based on levels for sales and technical training support and volume.
Nokia offers program participants technical, sales and marketing expertise, marketing programs, online sales training demand creation activities, and Nokia’s 24-hour First Call-Final Resolution support offering. “By developing a network of value-added resellers and service providers with independently certified levels of training and a commitment to the Nokia brand, we can be certain that our customers’ requirements are being met and our brand and reputation are being upheld in the marketplace,” said Nokia Internet Communications’ Bob Brace.
