Aspiro debuts wireless dating

PARIS-Personal digital assistants become even more personal as Aspiro introduces its new Dating Game service, developed by the UK’s lomo ltd, at the Mobile Entertainment 2001 show in Paris.

The service allows users of mobile WAP-enabled devices to create virtual versions of themselves by answering a list of personal questions including age, sex, interests, likes and dislikes. Users can then “cruise the wireless airwaves in search of a compatible partner.”

Aspiro compares its new service with similar successful dating services pioneered in Japan, but touts its Dating Game for some of its extra features. For example, Aspiro’s Dating Game allows players to hide their true identities and telephone numbers until they wish to reveal themselves, and actually allows virtual partners to go out on virtual dates to test their compatibility.
