Cambridge Silicon Radio introduced its MicroSira and CompactSira development tools for integrating Bluetooth functionality into a range of personal computer and personal digital assistant applications. Both products contain CSR’s single chip solution, BlueCore01 and development software.
Transilica Inc.’s OneChip Bluetooth lower and upper protocol stacks and digital baseband modem earned the 1.1 Bluetooth qualification and are now listed on Bluetooth’s Qualified Product List.

Parthus Technologies and STMicroelectronics demonstrated their co-developed single-chip “Rainbow” Bluetooth radio. The radio was designed for applications requiring longer transmit/receive distances and low bit error rates.In other news, Parthus said it achieved Bluetooth 1.1 qualification from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group through an independent third-party certification authority.
3Com Corp. will base its range of Class 2 Bluetooth modules on Cambridge Silicon Radio’s BlueCore01 single-chip solution. The modules will include a PC card, USB device, internal notebook module and a USB printer module. Production is scheduled for late summer, with consumer availability by the end of the year.
Certicom partnered with Classwave, Socket and Widcomm to provide security via a wireless virtual private network for Bluetooth solutions using its range of wireless security products.
