ATLANTA-Cingular Wireless introduced its national wireless micropayment billing service, Cingular DirectBill, allowing customers to bill purchases made by wireless phones or from the Internet to their current wireless phone bill.
Using technology from Qpass, a provider of commerce service infrastructure, Cingular customers can purchase low-cost digital goods, such as customized ringtones, and have the charges appear monthly on their wireless phone bill as part of the carrier’s Wireless Wallet service. The carrier also pointed out the security of the service because a credit card is not needed to make a purchase.
