Qualcomm settles lawsuits

SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. says it has settled three lawsuits filed against it by former employees.

The company said the California Superior Court ruled in its favor in the Hanig vs. Qualcomm case filed by 69 former employees, saying that the plaintiffs’ agreement not to sue barred their lawsuits.

Qualcomm said it agreed to pay “millions of dollars” in a bonus retention plan to the employees who became Ericsson staff after the San Diego-based company sold its infrastructure company to the Swedish manufacturer.

Qualcomm also said that the plaintiffs in the May vs. Qualcomm case have agreed to dismiss their class action lawsuit for stock options and bonus payments against Qualcomm and Qualcomm Personal Electronics.

The company said the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California granted summary judgement in its favor in 17 out of 18 cases involving layoffs in 1999 in which it made severance payments.
