TAIPEI, Taiwan-Palm Inc. has made further headway in the Asia-Pacific region through an announcement with Acer Inc., under which Acer licensed the Palm Operating System through 2005.
Under the agreement, Acer and Palm will work together to develop traditional and simplified Chinese language versions of the Palm OS platform. Acer said it chose the platform because of its power and flexibility.
“Acer’s work to localize the power of the Palm OS platform for Chinese-speaking markets will increase our presence here and bring new and exciting handheld options to customers through the Asia-Pacific region,” said Alan Kessler, Palm’s general manager of the platform solutions group.
