Altera to supply logic devices to Motorola

HONG KONG-Motorola Inc. announced today its Telecom Solutions Sector will team with Altera Corp., which supplies programmable logic devices, to design and develop a cdma2000 1xEV-DV network solution.

Altera plans to provide programmable logic devices and technical resources to develop Motorola’s third-generation network solution. The system also calls for Altera’s system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) solutions, which enable high-speed, parallel, signal processing through Altera’s APEX architecture and are expected to bring cost, performance and time-to-market advantages to Motorola.

“Partnering with Motorola is further proof of our commitment to elevate our customer-supplier relationships to full partnership, leveraging our SOPC solutions,” said John Daane, president and chief executive officer of Altera. “Our goal is to work hand in glove with Motorola in moving their products quickly and efficiently through proof of concept stages and into volume production.”
