Blackstone

Blackstone announced Elaine Moncayo has joined its marketing department as marketing coordinator. In her new position, she will be responsible for internal marketing, including newsletter, brochures, Web site updates and presentations. She will work with both Blackstone employees and distributors in Miami and across the country. Moncayo most recently served as project coordinator at Cellit. Before that, she was a copywriter for WPLG-TV in Miami. Blackstone has also promoted Ana Blanco to the newly created position of international sales manager. George Guerra will fill Blanco’s old position, southeast regional sales manager; he was previously Blackstone’s sales trainer and development coordinator.

SnapTrack Inc.

SnapTrack Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Inc., has promoted Bret Sewell to senior vice president and general manager. Sewell has been with SnapTrack for four years and most recently served as vice president of worldwide sales and customer operations for the company’s wireless position location products and solutions. He has 18 years of experience in international technology sales, marketing and management with companies including Octel Communications and Aspect Telecommunications. SnapTrack Inc. also promoted Tom Wrappe to senior vice president of marketing and product management. In this role, he will define and implement product-based strategies for the company. Wrappe previously served as vice president of program management for Snaptrack’s wireless position location products and solutions. He has also held positions with Texas Instruments, MCI Communications and Hughes Network Systems.

Visto Corp.

Visto Corp. appointed Todd Luttinger vice president of sales for its eastern region and Renee Bader Niemi senior vice president of marketing. According to the company, both new executives will help to market and expand sales of Visto’s mLynx Access Family to large enterprise customers. Luttinger will specifically be responsible for leading the sales team in driving revenue through enterprise accounts in the eastern United States and Canada. He brings 20 years of experience in selling communications and technology solutions to Visto. Niemi will lead the marketing team responsible for creating, developing and executing product strategy and management, product marketing, channel development, public relations, advertising and corporate branding activities. Her 16 years of marketing, management and product development experience include senior positions at MobileSys Inc., Xircom Inc., NEC, Poqet Computer and National Semiconductor Inc.

BellSouth

David J. Markey, vice president of governmental affairs, retired from BellSouth effective June 1, 2001. Markey headed the company’s Washington, D.C., office since 1995 and was with BellSouth since 1985. Herschel L. Abbott, currently president of BellSouth’s Louisiana operations, replaces Markey. Abbott joined BellSouth in 1991 and prior to that was a senior partner in a private law firm in New Orleans. William A. Oliver, who has been with BellSouth for 28 years, replaces Abbot and has been elected an officer of the company. Oliver most recently served as vice president of regulatory and external affairs in Louisiana. In addition, Troup B. Coronado has been made assistant vice president of federal relations for BellSouth Corp.’s Washington, D.C., governmental affairs office. Before joining BellSouth, Coronado was director of government relations with Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. He has also held positions in the Senate Judiciary Committee, worked as an assistant to Sen. Orrin G. Hatch and served as staff director of the U.S. Senate Republican Conference Task Force on Hispanic Affairs.

TeleCorp PCS Inc.

Hamid Alipour has been name chief information officer at TeleCorp PCS Inc., AT&T Wireless’ largest affiliate. Alipour joins the company with more than 20 years of experience in managing information technology functions for various companies, including SBC Communications, Pacific Bell and Pacific Bell Wireless. He will be based at the company’s Arlington, Va., headquarters.

Price Communications

Michael N. Bruno has been promoted to president and chief executive officer of Price Communications Wireless Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Price Communications Corp. Bruno has served as executive vice president of the company since 1998. Dennis Stone, the current president, will become its chairman.

Qwest Communications

Telecom giant Qwest Communications has named Annette Jacobs executive vice president of Qwest and president of Qwest Wireless. Previously, she served as president of the Great Lakes area for Verizon Wireless. Jacobs joins Qwest with 21 years of leadership experience in operations, sales, marketing and management at companies including Verizon, GTE, Contel and AT&T. Jacobs, who will be based in Denver, replaces Peter Mannetti who is leaving to pursue other interests.

Celvibe Ltd.

John Marchioni has been promoted to vice president of business development for Celvibe Inc., the North American headquarters for Celvibe Ltd., located in Redwood City, Calif. Marchioni’s 20 years of technology experience includes positions with Cylink Corp., Microsoft and Vertel.

InterDigital

InterDigital Communications Corp., which develops and licenses advanced wireless technologies, announced one of its software design engineers, Jim Miller, has been named vice chairman of the Third-Generation Partnership Project’s Radio Access Network technical specifications group, Working Group 3. As vice chairman, Miller will assist the chairman in coordinating the technical activities of the 75 delegates that represent the 35 companies participating in Working Group 3 meetings, which take place eight times a year. He will also interact with other RAN groups and report to the RAN plenary. Working Group 3 is responsible for creating technical specifications for base station and radio network controller architecture.

Ensemble

Doug Gray has joined Ensemble Communications Inc., a supplier of next-generation broadband wireless access equipment, as executive director of product management. At Ensemble, Gray will oversee product management activities and initiatives for the company’s Fiberless system. In total, Gray has more than 30 years of wireless and microwave technology development and management experience. Most recently, he served as chief technology officer and director of worldwide marketing and product management for Lucent’s Broadband Wireless Access division. Before that, most of his career was spent in various engineering and management roles at Hewlett-Packard. In 1998 Gray was elected to the board of directors of the Wireless Communications Association International, a non-profit trade organization representing the fixed wireless broadband industry.

Telespree

Telespree Communications announced it hired a former vice president and general manager for Sprint as its vice president of marketing. Gail Redmond, who has more than 17 years of experience in marketing, product management and manufacturing, will oversee Telespree’s marketing operations. Redmond has worked for IBM, Kansas City Power & Light Co. and, most recently, Sprint. Redmond headed up Sprint’s original equipment manufacturer product development and manufacturing division.

Sitraka Mobility

Sujan Menezes, formerly vice president of banking applications and director of customer services at 724 Solutions, has joined Sitraka Mobility as vice president of client services. Menezes will be responsible for the implementation and support of the company’s Response platform, which is currently in pilot with two investment firms.

Wisor

Joseph W. Kuhn has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of Wisor, where he will be responsible for all financial and administrative activities for the company. Before joining Wisor, Kuhn was executive vice president, chief operating officer and a member of the board of directors at Cirad
en Inc. Prior to this, he held various positions with Alaris Medical Inc., including chief financial officer and president, and was a senior manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Wisor also announced the appointments of Bob Rider to vice president of marketing and business development and David Nelson to vice president of operations and professional services. Before joining the company in January 2001, Rider held positions with ATG, Verizon, Bell Atlantic-International and The Netherlands Enterprise Company. Nelson, who has 24 years of telecom experience, has also worked at E-centives Inc., Net2000 Communications, Loral Cyberstar, Northern Telecom Inc. and Northern Telecom Europe.

Magic4

Jerry Hanley will become director of business development for North America at Magic4. Hanley joins the company with experience from Telemac Corp., Sony Personal Mobile Communications and Lucent Technologies. Hanley, who will be based in Los Angeles, will support Magic4’s current North American partners and will spearhead expansion plans in the United States.

Airslide Systems

Airslide Systems Inc. has appointed Bruce R. Albelda as its vice president of finance and operations. As such, Albelda will be responsible for operational, administrative and financial functions at Airslide, including development of financial systems and controls and manufacturing strategy. Prior to joining the company, Albelda held several senior level positions at Westell Technologies. He also has experience with Oak Industries and Bain & Company. Airslide also appointed Marc J. Zionts as its new president and chief executive officer. Zionts will lead the company in introducing and deploying its scalable solutions to cellular providers worldwide. Prior to joining the company, Zionts was CEO of Westell Technologies. He also co-founded and built a systems-integration business and actually began his career with GTE and Fujitsu/GTE Business Systems.

Sabre

Sabre Communications Corp. has appointed Dean Barkman operations manager of its pole division and Connie Aasen marketing manager. Barkman will be responsible for managing and directing day-to-day operations at the company’s new pole facility in Texas. He has been involved in the steel industry for 20 years and brings experience from Delta Steel, FWT Inc. and Thomas & Betts Pole Division. Aasen will take over the development of marketing strategies and daily functions of the marketing department, including advertising, at the company’s headquarters in Sioux City, Iowa.

SkyCross

SkyCross Inc. named Kevin J. Bartczak its chief financial officer. In this position, he will be responsible for fiscal oversight of the company’s operations and corporate growth. Bartczak is a certified public accountant and has more than 25 years experience in finance and management. He previously held senior positions at Hi-Rise Recycling Systems Inc. and Paravant Inc.

UMonitor

UMonitor Inc. recently announced several appointments to its management team. Bob Bolen is the company’s new chief financial officer and senior vice president of strategy. His 14 years of experience with equity capital markets includes time at J.C. Bradford & Co. (now Paine Webber). Christine S. Fry will be senior vice president of sales and marketing. She has held senior management positions at Alltel Communications, BET/Action pay Per View and London Interconnect in the United Kingdom throughout the past 19 years. Bysakh Bhasi, who joined as chief technology officer, brings experience from Siemens and Federal Express. Sanjiv Desai will serve as chief information officer and brings more than 10 years of development and managerial experience in information technology. Cary Strange will be vice president of business development, bringing more than six years of experience in technology and application sales with him. And Cynthia Hofmeister Thomas, with 15 years of marking and public relations experience behind her, will serve as vice president of marketing.
