Infowave enhances product line

SEATTLE-Infowave is working to further simplify wireless connectivity for the enterprise with its new Open Application Connector and Air Power middleware.

Infowave considers messaging, Web access and client-server applications the three wireless offerings essential for today’s enterprises. While many businesses may find themselves working with different telecom companies to deploy each service, Infowave is now capable of providing all three.

The company said businesses simply plug various connectors into Infowave’s Wireless Business Engine platform to enable different wireless needs. For example, the company’s Exchange Connector makes Microsoft Exchange and Outlook accessible on wireless devices. The Web Connector, which allows mobile workers to access the wireless Web, includes re-sizing and filtering capabilities for fast Internet access. Today, Infowave is unveiling its Open Application Connector, the final plug-in needed to give businesses wireless access to the three services Infowave has deemed as necessary. The OAC will allow mobile workers to connect to the enterprise’s client-server applications, according to the company.

Infowave also said it is releasing its Air Power middleware, to be implemented in its WBE. The middleware will provide enhanced speed, reliability and security to all of the wireless applications that pass from the plug-ins, through the WBE, and onto various wireless devices.

“We’re doing the hard work, so our customers don’t need to learn the complexities of wireless,” said Paul Miser, Infowave’s product manager.
