NEW YORK-Breakaway Solutions Inc. and Analine Technologies have teamed up to use the Palm operating system and Palm VII devices to improve the safety of hazardous waste management through real-time wireless communications.
Breakaway, Conshohocken, Pa., is a systems integrator that provides implementation and application hosting solutions for collaborative e-business. Boston-based Analine provides environmental professionals the tools to manage knowledge, store information and report data.
Under the agreement announced June 25, Breakaway will help Analine use the Palm VII and Palm operating system for two new offerings: Activity-Impacts Manager, which provides instant information on safe disposal practices for particular kinds of hazardous waste; and Manifest and Profile, which gives hazardous waste generators, transporters and disposal facilities seamless communications capabilities throughout the cradle-to-grave network of hazardous waste management.
Analine said AIM and MAP are designed to improve upon the current system, in which companies in this sector rely on completely manual processes, “which lead to ongoing discrepancies and time lapses in reporting any catastrophes, (in turn) leading to serious repercussions for the environment.”
