Australia

Telstra Wholesale and Vodafone Australia announced a new three-year generic access agreement deal that they said will replace previous agreements and further enhance the ongoing relationship between the two companies. The new agreement, which takes effect immediately, is for transmission and interconnect products.

Canada

SiGEM Inc., a provider of telematics vehicle location tracking systems, announced the launch of its ePiNG dispatch system at the Diamond Taxi in Toronto. The new system, in which Diamond has invested more than $750,000, will provide advanced communications between its 450 cabs and dispatch to improve safety and security for drivers and passengers.

Telus Mobility announced a distribution agreement with California-based Ascendent Telecommunications Inc. that will add to its wireless office solution offering. According to the agreement, Telus will market Ascendent’s Wireless Connect product to its digital personal communications services and Mike clients.

Mexico

Numerex Corp. announced that its subsidiary, Cellemetry LLC, has joined with Mexico’s cellular communications provider Telcel to activate wireless data network coverage in Mexico City. Cellemetry will provide two-way, wireless data connectivity for machine-to-machine communications that remotely monitor, measure, or track fixed and mobile assets.

France

Alcatel says it has completed a strategic agreement to outsource its handset production to Singapore-based Flextronics. Under the deal, Alcatel will cede its manufacturing plant in Laval, France, and 830 workers to Flextronics.

Sweden

Columbitech, a provider of wireless data solutions, announced it is shipping the beta version of its Wireless VPN to 15 companies on four continents for delivery to enterprises interested in implementing a wireless VPN. According to Columbitech, the new wireless VPN offers seamless roaming, enhanced data speed and end-to-end security.
