HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.-Audiovox Communications Corp. said it was ranked No. 1 in the United States in delivering CDMA handsets for 2000, with a 20.9 percent market share, in Dataquest’s year-end 2000 report, which is expected to be released this week.
In terms of overall cellular handsets, Audiovox said it was among the top four, with a 10-percent market share.
Audiovox anticipates retaining high standings in handset results for 2001 as well. The company began shipping its CDM-9100, a Web-enabled phone, an upgrade from its older CDM-9000, earlier this year and plans to introduce its first 1xRTT handsets and a personal digital assistant this fall.
