Magticom said it has completed its first GPRS call within its wireless network in the Republic of Georgia with Motorola’s end-to-end solution. Motorola said it hopes to launch the services commercially to Magticom’s 140,000 mobile subscribers in the near future.

L.M. Ericsson said it expects its third-generation handsets to be ready for commercial launch in Portugal in the second half of 2002. “Ericsson will only have terminals in volume in Portugal in the second half of 2002, the same as is happening with our competitors, as far as we know,” said Eduardo Restuccia, chairman of Ericsson in Portugal.
