PALO ALTO, Calif.—Agilent Technologies Inc said it would slash about 4,000 workers just as it posted a third-quarter pro forma loss of $109 million compared to a profit of $158 million last year.
The job cuts, which amount to 9 percent of its work force, are one of the company’s efforts to restructure its way back to profitability.
The company said it does expect to break even until next year when inventories may have normalized and profits start coming in.
