BUCHAREST, Romania—GSM Kazakhstan announced that it has the largest mobile communications subscriber base in Kazakhstan with 330.000 subscribers.
The company, operating under the brand name K’cell, is one of the largest investors in the field of telecommunications in Kazakhstan.
At the end of 2000, the operator’s revenue was more than US$120 million. By year-end 2001, the carrier plans to invest US$38 million in the development of a network and invest additional capital for the introduction of new services.
GSM Kazakhstan is represented in the market of Kazakhstan with two trademarks—K’cell (Kazakhstan Cellular) and prepaid system ACTIV. The list of the services offered by the company constantly increases. Now K’cell subscribers can access voice mail, short message service (SMS), mobile telebanking and K’cell INFO. At the end of year 2000, the new tariff plan “Friends and Family” was launched for K’cell subscribers, providing discounts for mobile K’cell to mobile K’cell calls.
