The Value of 3G in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina—According to a recent study by Pyramid Research, the price Movicom BellSouth of Argentina might pay for a 3G license would be US$207 million. This way the government might reach its original goal of attaining US$800 million for the auction of four national 3G licenses.
Originally, the auction was take place in October, but it was postponed and there is still no definite date set. Argentina will be one of the first countries in Latin America to auction 3G licenses.
Pyramid Research developed the white paper based on the hypothetical case of a potential holder of one of the licenses, taking as an example Movicom BellSouth of Argentina. The company invoiced US$789 million in the year 2000 and this year its average revenue per subscriber (ARPS) amounts to US$46 monthly.
