BEIJING—China Unicom, China’s second-largest operator, has signed several contracts during the month of August.
Fenghuo Telecom clinched a deal with Unicom’s subsidiary in Jilin Province for the fifth expansion of its GSM network. Shanghai Bell will deliver mobile telecom equipment to Unicom in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the southwestern part of China.
Domestic supplier Jinpeng will assist Unicom in the provinces of Jiangxi and Shaanxi with network expansion construction.
Finally, Shanghai Siemens Mobile signed contracts valued at more than CNY560 million (US$67.74 million) to expand GSM networks in the provinces of Fujian, Guizhou and Qinghai and the cities of Shanghai and Wuhan.
